Do you have trouble eating or drinking?
Are you coughing and choking during meals?
Does food seem to “get stuck” in your throat?
Swallowing is one of the most important things you do every day. Most people don’t even pay attention to how they swallow. However, a swallowing problem can slow you down and make meals uncomfortable, frustrating, or even embarrassing. We have special training to help people with swallowing problems in the mouth and throat.
Dysphagia is a general term for trouble with swallowing. This means that something isn’t working right at some point in the swallowing system. A full evaluation with a speech-language pathologist is needed to find specific problems. Then, an individual treatment plan can be developed for you. This may include exercises, strategies, or changes in diet.
